About

Accommodation

The origin of the main house is a 1908 built log cabin that has since been thoroughly modernised and expanded into a 230m2 comfortable property with underfloor heating on the ground floor and electric radiators in the bedrooms. The kitchen is modern with induction hob but also retains the original range. WiFi with 50 megabit speed is available as well as British TV, Netflix and Sonos. All bedrooms are double with 90cm/180cm beds.
We have two additional buildings on site offering comfortable accommodation. One is ‘Cozy Cottage’ a traditional guest house with one double bedroom, bathroom/shower/toilet, sitting room and kitchen. Fully equipped with dishwasher, oven & fireplace.
Second building is ‘The Sailhouse’ a standalone cabin of 40sq.m. One bedroom, living room with open kitchen and dining area. Bathroom with shower and toilet. Porch.

Neighbourhood overview
Solhem Retreat is the last property in the village of Horslök on the island of Sarfsalö. Sarfsalö used to be a thriving farming/fishing community with its own fleet of wooden schooners serving Helsinki markets. Today it is predominantly a holiday community in the summer and a quiet commuter village with most houses empty in winter.
Getting around
Although Solhem Retreat is only 60 km from the capital as the crow flies and 95 km by road there is no public transport available. Coming from Helsinki or from the Airport, two thirds of the way is motorway and the remaining one third, a progressively narrowing country lane. Car rentals are available at the airport. During the summer the nearby village of Härpe hosts a weekly summer market and boasts a wine bar/pub. Other summer shops and cafes can be accessed by boat. The nearest town with comprehensive shopping and eating is 45 km away and visits can be arranged here or to the capital, Helsinki.
